It's day 5 of our Blogiversary. Are you enjoying the celebrations? I know I am and love that the fun continues today with another prize.
(Check the comment section below to find out if you are the winner of yesterday's give-away.)

Are you hankering for some down time where you can indulge in the delicious taste of chocolate as you immerse yourself in a romance novel? Answer a question I've placed at this post's end and this box of Lindt chocolate balls and lovely rural romance novel just may be yours.

But first, how can BITB help your romance writing?

Are you embarking on your journey to write or aiming to be a better writer? Are you struggling to write, searching for motivation? Have you received your first offer of publication and wondering what happens at the publishing end? Do you need to know about book promotion? Or about social networking for writers? Would you like your book reviewed by an experienced reviewer?

Visit our blog where we discuss the craft of writing. We have guest bloggers sharing their experiences of the publishing and selling processes, as well as offering advice and information. Our regular reviewer, Miranda, gives insightful, in-depth reviews that coerce readers to buy.

Writing is a lonely occupation. Whether alone in a room at home or seated in the midst of a crowded plane, your focus shifts from your surroundings to the story playing in your mind and stays there as you write. In those moments when you're not writing, you may want to connect with people as immersed in writing as you. BITB is just the place to find like-minded people.

What book or books grabbed you emotionally?

And now it's prize give-away time. I love those romance novels that yank at my emotions with such pull that I feel everything the characters feel. I've read a lot like that but there are four that stand out far above others,  that made me sob through the journeys to happily-ever-after. They are Linda Howard's Cry No More, Dinah McCall's Jackson RuleSharon Sala's Out of the Dark and Gayle Wilson's Only A Whisper.

A heroine desperately searching for the child snatched from her arms. A hero pleading guilty to murder to save his baby sister from prison. A best friend sacrificing his life to save a heroine from the clutches of an evil cult leader. A hero willing to die, and almost doing so, for justice. I was right there in the midst of angst and action in each story and the endings...as beautiful as I anticipated.

How about you? Did a book make you laugh out loud or shed tears or sigh in wonder? What book or books drew you right in until the last page?

Answer in the comments below and do return on Monday. You may be the lucky randomly-chosen winner!

I love to love - romance writers and readers. You care, you share, and I am inspired!

  1. Hi Enisa, I love your book choices for the most emotive books you've read. One of mine is Morning Comes Softly by Debbie Macomber. A mail order marriage turns tender and just lovely.

Happy Blogiversary, BITB! I love coming in and reading your blogs, seeing what new topic you all tackle. Well done, your advice is spot on and current, and so encouraging. Here's to the next year!

  4. Hi Enisa! As you say, writing is a lonely occupation, which is why I so value participating in this blog. I love the thought of our readers finding our posts interesting and entertaining; it's a great way of connecting with people we may never meet in real life.
As for books that kept me reading till the last page, Outlander pulled me in hook, line and sinker from beginning to end. I know Diana Gabaldon doesn't like to have it categorized as a romance, but it is to me.

    1. Yes, the blog is a great way to connect. I love it.

And, oh, yeah, Outlander is a wonderful series and from the reception of the TV show, I know many, many agree with me!

  5. Hi Enisa for me it was the Mallory series by Johanna Lindsay and the de Monteforte seires by Danelle Harmon. I think I like the family aspect. I also love reading about a couple making their own family.

    1. Hi Cassandra. Having rediscovered historicals after a long hiatus during which I read other genres, I know just how wonderful a read they are. I haven't read the Mallory or de Monteforte series, but now I'll be sure to put them in my TBR list!

  6. Hi Enisa, Julie Garwood, Nora Roberts and Johanna Lindsay (especially the Mallory series) make me sigh, as does Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase. The final chapters of the Iliad will always make me cry. Nicole xx (who's getting a bit teary just thinking about it).

  7. Hi Nicole. Thanks for stopping by. I'm with you regarding Julie Garwoodand Nora Roberts. I read their books without pausing. And, wow, Lord of Scoundrels is just terrific. And now you've got me wanting to reach for the Iliad right now. Great books, all.

  8. We're all different, Enisa, but I'm biased. Just mention Anne Gracie and you'll have me raising my hand. Anne gives it all, the highs, the lows, and everything in between. It's because she does the lows so well that I find I'm breathing a sigh of relief, and laughing along with the heroine.

I'll repeat. We're all different, and for me that means I'm not going to give you any one book in particular. I'm just giving you my favourite author. I have everything she's written and it's been wonderful to watch her writing journey. As for "Tallie's Knight", I had to have 2 copies of that. After all, there was a boxed editiion of the put out at RWA and the winning novels were in it. However, there's no way I was relinquishing my earlier copy. The only thing I don't have is a third copy which has just come out in reprint, but I'm being generous and leaving those copies for readers who haven't had a taste of Anne's stories.

  9. Hi Robyn. Yes, we are all different and that shows in our reading tastes. My favourite author is Nora Roberts. I have everyvbook she's written in all her pseudonyms. I love all her characters and just sigh in wonder by each book's end.
The 4 books I mentioned in my post are particular stories that made me sob the most! There was just that something extra that pulled at me in such a strong way. It may be the subject matter of the plots because those are things I feel very strongly about.

  10. Some books sometimes make me laugh and make me cry, some books sometimes make me teach the book to fly or hold the door from swinging closed. Sometimes I find a book that keeps me company at night, pages turning, turning, turning until the early morning light. Every book, every time fills my mind with thoughts and wonder and just occasionally draws me in, therein to wander. If I come home remembering the people on the page as if they were my kith and kin then and only then I know that I am touched by magic and long for more.
